A group known as the Rivers Leadership Advancement Foundation has said contrary to a claim by an association known as the Freedom House, the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, has always upheld the integrity of the judiciary.

The group was reacting to the claim by Freedom House on the controversy surrounding the ward, local government and state congresses in the Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress.

The President of RIVLEAF, Chief Alex Wele, disagreed with the claim by the Freedom House that Peterside only upheld the integrity of the courts whenever it suited him (Peterside).

Wele said in a statement issued on Monday that the position of the Freedom House was targeted at painting Peterside in a bad light.

The RIVLEAF president said, “We read with utter dismay and shock a statement credited to one Freedom House, ostensibly acting and representing the interest of a senator wherein it embarked on half-truths and outright lies all in an effort to paint the Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi and the Director-General, NIMASA, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, in a bad light.

“But for the reason that the so-called Freedom House had chosen to dance naked and point finger at both Rt. Hon Amaechi and Dr. Peterside, one would ordinarily have ignored them as those who are suffering from identity crisis and lacking a sense of responsibility.” – Punch
