THE North East Stability Group (NESG) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari on appointment of the new Managing Director/CEO of the North East Development Commission (NEDC) Umar Hashidu.
The Chairman of the group, Dr Musa Wakili, in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, said the appointment of Hashidu demonstrated the President’s commitment to give more opportunities to youths in the country.
According to Wakili, such appointments will provide opportunities for youths to express their capacities.
Wakili also congratulated the new NEDC boss for meriting the confidence of President Buhari to have been given the task of changing the narrative of the region.
The group prayed for a successful tenure for the new NEDC helmsman.
The group also urged him to ensure that he discharged the responsibilities of his new office in a manner that would encourage more appointments of youthful Nigerians into high political and administrative positions.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that President Buhari ordered the immediate resumption of Hashidu in acting capacity and the new board members of NEDC.
Presidential spokesperson, Mr Garba Shehu said the order followed the expiration of the tenure of the former Board on May 7, 2023. (NAN)
