THE Plateau Debate Guilt (PDG) has organised a dialogue for stakeholders on tackling violent conflicts and promoting peaceful coexistence in the state.
Speaking at the event on Thursday in Jos, Mr Isaac Sanda, the Acting Dircetor General of the guild, said the dialogue aimed at fashioning solution to the lingering conflicts in the state.
He explained that the event would enable stakeholders to reflect on the peace building efforts in the state.
He added that the dialogue is part of its contribution toward promoting good governance and quality representation in the state.
”As you know, PDG is a group that have been organising debate for governorship candidates in this state since 2015.
”But we decided to put this dialogue together so that we can hear from the people in the communities and other stakeholders on their challenges.
”We chose to begin with security matter because it has become a huge challenge for us on the Plateau.
”Where there is no peace, we can’t talk of any meaningful development and this is why we brought these key stakholders together to honestly reflect on the need for a peaceful Plateau ”he said.
Sanda added that the meeting would enable participants share their views on the various peace interventions by either government or private organisations in their communities.
He explained that at the end of exercise, the resolutions would be documented and presented to government and relevant agencies for further action.
Speaking at the event, Mr Sam Jatau, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), said that goverment had adopted measures toward tackling the current security challenges in the state.
Jatau also said that government was also doing everything possible to ensure that all displaced persons returned to their original places of abodes.
The SSG, who commended the the organisers of the event, called on residents of the state to support government’s peace efforts.
