The Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace (IDFP), on Friday, called on religious leaders to initiate programs capable of promoting good parenting and family values in the country.
The Co-Chairman of the Forum, Alhaji Mohammed Jaleel-Mohammed, made the call at the closing of a five-day training on early warning, early response, mediation and Inter-religious dialogue for religious leaders, in Abuja.
Jaleel-Mohammed who described religious leaders as key to national peace and development appealed to parents and guardians to work towards checking the excesses of youths in the country.
According to him, most of the youths perpetrating evil in the country are from Godly homes.
Also, a former President of the Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) of the Nineteen Northern States and the FCT, Mrs. Leah Olusiji-Solomon called on parents to be conscious of the activities of their children.
Olusiji-Solomon, however, appealed to women not to allow the present economic situation to affect their roles in providing and praying for their children.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that about 300 religious leaders across the country attended the capacity building program.
They are expected to impart the knowledge acquired on other religious leaders in their respective communities. (NAN)
