A PDP gubernatorial aspirant in Kaduna State, Ja’afaru Sa’ad, on Wednesday urged the party to field candidates who enjoy the support of the people. He stated this when PDP in Zaria Local Government presented their aspirant for Northern Senatorial District at the zonal office in Zaria.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Alhaji Sama’ila Musa-Sarkin-Gandu, PDP Chairman, Zaria formally presented the aspirant to PDP Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Tsoho-Kargi.
Sa’ad said: “We want a situation where the choices of the majority who have credibility emerge as candidates from councilorship to presidential seats.
“This will give the party credibility and it will make it stronger to reclaim its leadership position from bottom to top.”
He, however, lauded the party for holding a peaceful and successful convention in 2017, describing it as free, fair and transparent.
Sa’ad advised PDP members to remain law abiding, united and focused in the quest to dethrone the incumbent ruling-APC at all levels in the state.
The aspirant pledged to tackle the various security issues bedevilling the state as well as introduce new strategies to tackle youth and women empowerment.
“The essence of introducing small scale business is to ensure that the two important segments (youth and women), being the largest in the society are engaged.
“We want small businesses encouraged through Youth and Women Development Bank, so that these categories of people can get loan with less difficulty.
“This will make them become self subsistence and later become employers of labour too. We don’t want people to solely rely on government for everything,” he noted.
In his address, the Zonal Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Tsoho-Kargi appreciated Sa’ad for starting his political activities from ward level to local government and to zonal level.
He promised to give the aspirant the necessary support and cooperation to succeed.
Earlier, the PDP Chairman, Zaria local government, Alhaji Sama’ila Musa-Sarkin-Gandu said they were in the zonal office to show loyalty.
“This is because PDP is a loyal, disciplined and patriotic party. I am here to present Dr Ja’afaru Sa’ad from Kaura ward who had already picked his membership at the ward level.
“The aspirant had taken an excellent decision by choosing PDP as his platform. People have been agitating that he should come and contest a position to liberate them.
“Not only Kaduna State but Nigeria needs people like him. We have no doubt he will deliver the goods successfully,” he said. (NAN)
