The Police Command in Ebonyi has confirmed the killing of a trader in his shop by gunmen at a community in the state.

The incident took place in a shop at Nwambara Junction along Mile 4-Agalegu-Ishieke road in the Ebonyi Local Government Area.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP. Loveth Odah, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abakiliki that the killing was a suspected case of cultism.

“Nothing was reported stolen or robbed from the victim. The commissioner of police has ordered full-scale investigation into the matter with a view to unravelling the actual cause of the incident.

“The police have also ordered the arrest and persecution of the perpetrators,” Odah said. (NAN)
