Gunmen storm Akwa-Ibom commissioner’s home, kill sister, five Others

FOUR gunmen at about 6am on Sunday, November 19, at the residence of Udoh Ekpenyong, the Akwa Ibom State commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, in Ikot Oku Usung village, Ukanafun Local Government Area of the state, shot dead his younger sister and two others.
The gunmen were said to have arrived the village on motorcycles.
In the process of fleeing the village, the gunmen started shooting sporadically into the air, hitting a barber and one other person, who died on the spot.
Bala Elkana, a deputy superintendent of Police and the Public Relations Officer of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, confirmed the attack.
Elkana said Zubairu Muazu, the state commissioner of Police, had already visited the scene of the killing.
He said: “Four armed men on motorcycles attacked the house of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and shot his sister dead.
“When they were leaving, they started shooting continuously.
“In the process, stray bullets killed two other persons.
“But in the Commissioner’s compound, only the woman died.
“We will get to the root of the case.”
