GOV. Yahaya Bello of Kogi has urged the state’s intending pilgrims to the 2019 Hajj in Saudi Arabia to be of good conduct and eschew indiscipline.
Bello said this in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Onogu Mohammed in Lokoja on Monday.
Mohammed qouted Bello as giving the advice while addressing the intending pilgrims at the departure camp in Abuja.
He said that their good conduct would speak positively for the state and urged them to avoid running foul of Saudi laws.
Bello further urged the intending pilgrims to remember the state and its leaders in their prayers.
He particularly called on them to seek God’s intervention in the affairs of the state as it goes into a major election to elect a new governor this year.
“Pilgrims to the holy land should pray for the successful and peaceful conduct of election before, during and after the period in the state,” Bello said.
The state Amir Hajj, Alhaji Idris Babango, commended the governor for his constant support for the yearly exercise, assuring that the pilgrims would be of good conduct while in holy land.
He said that adequate preparations had been made for the pilgrims to have a hitch-free free Hajj.
Babango said that 464 pilgrims from the state would perform this year Hajj, adding that they would be transported to Saudi Arabia on Monday. (NAN)
