Handball League: Adorable Angels defeat Plateau Peacocks to stay unbeaten

Adorable Angels female handball team of Ilorin recorded their eighth victory at the 2020 Prudent Energy Handball League by beating Plateau Peacocks 29-26.
In the match played at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Friday the Adorable Angels led with only one point at 13-12 after the first half.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Adorable Angles only drew one match, 31-31 against the Safety Babes, throughout the 14-day 10-team competition and won the remaining eight.
The team’s head coach, Isiaka Atanda, later told NAN he was very happy that his team won their last match.
“My players have done a great job. This is a first appearance in the senior league, and they have done extremely well in all their games.
“We will go back home and start preparations for the National Sports Festival (NSF). We must also make our presence felt at the festival.
“I am happy that my girls did well. They have made us proud and especially the state government,” he said.
On his part, the coach of Plateau Peacocks, Yusuf Abdulkarim, said his team played well but it was unfortunate that they lost the game.
“There is always a winner and loser in a game. We will go back and prepare for the NSF. That is our next assignment.
“We thank God for the games so far,” he said.
Abdulkarim however solicited for support from the state government in Plateau to motivate the team for subsequent events.
NAN also reports that the champions in the league’s female category got the sum of N1.250 million, while runners-up Edo Dynamos got N1 million.
Safety Babes of Lagos who finished third received N750,000 in cash prize. The 2020 Prudent Energy Handball League which started on Oct. 31, ended on Friday. (NAN)
