JUSTINA Uko, the Head Teacher, St. Paul’s African Primary School, Ibaka, Mbo Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom,  has urged the state government to urgently attend to the infrastructure needs of the school.

Uko made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibaka on Wednesday.

She said that the school was in severe need of infrastructure and learning facilities.

The head teacher said that the situation had become worse with the rainy season, saying,” the roofs are leaking, whenever it rains, our pupils don’t stay in the classrooms”

“When it rains, we all look for where to get shelter first, not even where to hold classes. This is impacting negatively on the pupils.

“The school premises is affected by flooding. Our structures and facilities have seriously deteriorated. We are seriously in need of desks,” she said.

She urged the state government to quickly construct perimeter fencing around the school to guide against stealing and trespass.

“Education is part of the ARISE AGENDA of the current administration, we are proud of the government’s welfare programmes for widows and other less privileged people.

“We have seen the governor’s sincere commitment to seve, we urge him to come to our aid. It will be in the interest of the future of the pupils,” she said.(NAN)
