THE Anambra State government has announced that immunisation is free at all government-owned health centres and hospitals in the state.
This is contained in a circular released in Awka by Joe Akabuike, the state commissioner for Health.
He announced, “Government has zero tolerance for those who demand fees to administer immunisation on those desiring such services.’’
It directed all health caregivers in the state to desist from collecting money from clients for immunisation and family planning.
“Such services are to be offered free of charge in all Government Health facilities in the state.’’
It then cautioned that anyone caught demanding or collecting fees for such services would be severely punished.
The circular enjoined caregivers, men and women of child bearing age to go to the nearest public health facilities to assess these safe and free services.
