NAN reports that the Federal government launched the National AIDS survey on June 28, to determine the true distribution of HIV and AIDS, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C in the country.

Bashorun noted that two states from each geo-graphical zone in the country had been completed as data cleaning was ongoing in some other states.

“Community Mobilisation activities are also ongoing in Abia, Akwa Ibom, Ekiti and Ogun states,” he explained.

Bashorun acknowledged the support of the various state governments in the states visited adding that they had been supportive in the provision of logistics and venues for field teams.

“In Nasarawa State for instance, the state government provided the survey’s central medical store for commodity storage.

“The state also provided various halls for centralised and decentralised meetings, as some state officials joined in the field monitoring exercise.

“We look forward to enjoying increased support from other state governments as well as the people of Nigeria,” he said. (NAN)
