THE Victims Support Fund (VSF) has mapped out ways of providing improved and timely responses for future interventions to victims of insurgency in the country.

The Executive Director, VSF, Prof. Sunday Ochoche, in a communiqué made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), noted that VSF has targeted the most affected areas of the North East for its interventions.

He said that VSF has adopted participatory strategies by building appropriate synergies and strengthening collaboration with host Governments’ relevant Ministries, Agencies and Departments (MDAs), Partners and Beneficiaries.

However, Mr Yerima Saleh, the Commissioner of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (RRR), Borno State, on behalf of the stakeholders recommended that VSF should scale up interventions to reach more households in affected communities.

“Also, VSF management should consider the payment of examination fees of final year students in public senior secondary schools from indigent households, VSF should ensure timely distribution of appropriate and high yielding inputs.

“ VSF management should consider the payment of examination fees of final year students in public senior secondary schools from indigent households, VSF should link with accredited organisations for effective transfer of cash to beneficiaries.

“ VSF should develop a framework for counterpart contribution from stakeholders at both State and local levels, relevant State Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies and community leadership should be adequately involved in the monitoring of VSF interventions.

“Also, the need for VSF to empower the youth and provide starter packs for those trained, working with the Ministries of RRR and Poverty Alleviation and Youth Empowerment, the need for continuous VSF support in the areas of reconstruction, rehabilitation and youth empowerment, among others,” he said.

Saleh, however, urged VSF not to relent in its support to more affected communities.
