THE Lagos State AIDS Control Agency, LSACA, has embarked on HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT) sensitisation programme among the Nagari Nakowa Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Lagos State.

At the event held at the salvation playing ground, Epe, Oluseyi Temowo, chief executive officer of the agency, said it was important to have HIV intervention programmes among the okada riders based on their prevalence in Epe division.

He posited that to eradicate HIV in Lagos State by 2030 based on the 90-90-90 initiative, every nook and cranny of the State must be visited to carry out HCT.

According to him, “The 90-90-90 initiative means that: 90% of the people must know their  HIV status, 90% of those that know their status must have access to anti-retroviral treatment (ART) and 90 percent of those that have access to ART must have suppressed viral load by 2020 and full eradication by 2030 in Lagos State.”

Temowo added that it is in view of the fact that a reasonable percentage of okada riders exist in Epe that the Agency decided to conduct HCT for them, imploring the members of the association and the general public to cooperate with the counselor-testers for the success of the HIV intervention programme.

Earlier,  Olamilekan Sababu, chairman of the Epe Branch of the Association, thanked the Lagos State government in its bid to make Epe HIV free.
