The management of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital has denied media reports that three new born babies were abducted from the hospital.

Speaking with journalists on Tuesday, the Chief Medical Director, UCTH, Prof. Thomas Agan, said, “No incident like that occurred in the hospital. No baby was stolen or abducted from the UCTH.

“The report is inimical and at no time has such an incident occurred in the hospital .We agree that there are some security loopholes, but we have the police, homeland security from the state government and Operation Skolombo, all patrolling the place at all times. I wonder if this happened in my dreams but certainly not in the UCTH.”

The President, Association of Resident Doctors, UCTH Chapter, Dr Antigha Cobham, said no such incident ever took place in the hospital.

“Our records are open, our books are there for all to see, and our records are very open for anyone to verify; no mother, parent or person has reported the loss of their child or baby. And from our end, every baby that was delivered in the hospital is intact and with us except those that have been discharged to go home,” he stated.
