Dr Kayode Oladehinde, Medical Director, State Hospital, Sokenu, Abeokuta, on Friday, said that the hospital generated N150 million between January and August 2018.

Oladehinde made this known while receiving members of the House Committee on Health, who were on oversight visit to the hospital in Abeokuta.

The medical director said that the revenue were generated from medical consultancy fees, administration fees, proceeds from sales of drugs and medications and earnings from laboratory services.

He noted that the hospital could easily overcome some overhead payments through its Internally Generated Revenue.

Oladehinde explained that the hospital had been implementing cashless policy in line with the state government’s directives and had also procured medical equipment.

He noted that inadequate specialists like medical doctors, nurses, special consultants were some of the challenges facing the hospital.

In his remarks, the House Committee Chairman, Mr Israel Jolaosho, commended the hospital’s management for providing qualitative and efficient health care delivery.

The lawmaker tasked the hospital’s management to seek support from philanthropists in the area of medical equipment, saying that government could not do it alone.

Other members of the committee were: Mrs Juliana Akintayo and Messrs Adebowale Ojuri,  Akinpelu Aina and  Samuel Sonuga. (NAN)
