The Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, ASPHCDA, has announced its mandate to oversee affairs of health workers from Local Government Civil Service Commission in the state.
This is in accordance with the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency’s, NPHCDA, policy concerning Primary Health Centres across the nation.
Addressing newsmen in her office in Awka, Chioma Ezenyimulu, the executive secretary of the Agency, said that the exercise was for all primary health centres to be under an umbrella.
“With this exercise, there will be effective monitoring, better output and improvement in Primary Health System,” she noted.
The secretary said this would be of great benefit to the state as well as to the health workers.
“The state will have functional Primary Health Centres that will bring funding and attract patients for treatment.
“Training and re-training of health workers at local and international levels will be conducted,’’ she added.
Ezenyimulu, however, emphasised that the agency was only in charge of the administrative work of the health workers, pointing that their entitlements such as pension, would remain as they were.
She assured of good rapport with the workers, promising to amend any lapses already found in the LGs for a new face of Primary Health Centre in the state.
