HERITAGE bank will continue to support the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN cashless policy drive. Ifie Sekibo, managing director, Heritage Bank Limited, said the continuous growth being witnessed in the cashless Nigeria initiative has started to impact on the economy positively.

A statement by the lender said in line with its support for the cashless economy drive, Sekibo would speak on ‘Innovation in financial services delivery’ at the annual Cashless Card Expo of the CBN holding in Lagos later this month.

The expo, which features various awards for outstanding payment cards and services, is meant to recognise and reward banks and financial services efforts at promoting the cashless policy. In addition to the presentation, the bank said Sekibo had been nominated for two of the Cashless Expo Award categories, namely ‘Best Co-branded Card of The Year’ and ‘Best Industry Innovation of The Year.’

It said the nominations were in recognition of the various innovative e-payment cards and channels the lender had introduced since it commenced operations in 2013. Heritage Bank had introduced the first transparent MasterCard in Nigeria last year. It also introduced the nation’s pioneer portable Point-of-Sale solution christened “PortaPoS” to ride on the mobile PoS revolution, which is fast gaining acceptance worldwide.

The bank said the PortaPoS, which is aimed at providing a seamless payment channel for merchants, was designed to address payment challenges within the retail payments space and also support the Cashless Nigeria project of the CBN.

According to the statement, payment cards introduced by the lender include: ePiggy Card, 7411 Smart Travel Tourist Card, Mainasara Women and Youth Card, and Vineland Microfinance Bank Card. Others are Royal Life Microfinance Bank Card, Miliki Living Patrons Card, and PMAN Card.
