HOS Bags South East Certificate Of Integrity Stewardship Award
Politics
THE Organization for Advocacy for Peace and Values Re-orientation has awarded the Anambra Head of Service (HOS), Barr. Okwy Igwegbe, with the ‘Integrity Stewardship Award’.
The award presentation, which was held at the office of the Head of Service, Jerome Udorji Secretariat Complex, Awka evoked an atmosphere of true feeling of accomplishment through reward for diligence in service.
Receiving the award, Barr. Igwegbe thanked the Organization for considering it important to reward people like her who believed in quietly performing their service in truth and fairness.
The Civil Service boss described the award as timely and most needed especially at this time when our society required advocating for truth and integrity in service.
“This would go a long way in proving to the the younger generation that there still exists benefits in diligence, fairness and truth most especially now that the society is screaming otherwise.”
She encouraged other Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to emulate the Organization for Peace and Values Re-orientation in the fight to reorient our society through the presentation of such awards to truly deserving persons.
Igwegbe reaffirmed her belief in the saying that ‘good work speaks for itself’, noting that the award remained a surprise to her, however, it gives credence to her averment to workers that there still remained a pay day for good works.
The HOS, then, thanked the group for considering her worthy to be rewarded with such prestigious award after their ground check across the South-East region of the country where people with character and integrity are in no short supply.
“For me, this is only a call for more commitment and diligence to service,” she noted.
Earlier, during the presentation, the Executive Director of the group, Mr Abubakar A. Oyibo pointed out that the organization conducted a confidential independent assessment of government ministries, departments and agencies across the South East geopolitical zones and the Anambra HOS, Barr. Igwegbe, came out outstanding.
Oyibo described the HOS as an outstanding personality in developmental policy performance, Civil Service reforms and the demonstration of exemplary leadership, public accessibility and compliant to the rule of law.
He noted that the award was to appreciate the Head of Service for her selfless service to the people and to encourage her in the line of diligence, truth, Justice and fairness.
The Director, then, described the organization as a Non Governmental Organization which is made up of professionals and skilled volunteers working toward a free and egaliterian society.
He, then, encouraged the public, members of the civil society and politicians alike to emulate personalities such as Barr. Igwegbe, if we must win back our society and salvage it from corruption and inequalities which was bane to our development and democracy.
Present at the occasion were the Permanent Secretary Establishment and Pension office of the Head of Service, Mrs. Carol Njaa, the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Ngozi Iwuno and the management staff of the office of the Head of Service.
