Hotel employee docked for allegedly stealing N1.2m

A 27-year-old hotel employee, Gabriel Danjuma was  on Wednesday docked in a Kaduna Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N1.2 million belonging to his employer.

The police charged Danjuma, who resides in Ungwan Pama area of Kaduna, with theft.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between Sept. 1 and Nov.14. at Standard Hotel in Sabon Tasha Kaduna.

Leo alleged that Danjuma who was employed in January, stole N1.2m belonging to his employer, Oscar Samson.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 271 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In his ruling, the Magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Emmanuel admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Emmanuel ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must show evidence of tax payments to Kaduna Government.

He adjourned the matter until Jan.18 for hearing.(NAN)
