Housewife seeks custody of 3 children
Judiciary
A 35-year-old housewife, Rabi Sa’adu prayed to a Kubwa Grade I Area Court, for the custody of her three children whom she had with her ex-husband, Ismaila Salisu.
Sa’adu said that she married Salisu sometime in May 2014 and is blessed with three children ages six, four and two.
” My children were with me after I and my husband got divorced, but he does not provide enough for their upkeep. He gives me N500 daily to feed our three children.
” Anytime I complain, it is usually an issue and he threatened to take all the children from me. He succeeded in taking away my oldest child, ” she said.
Sa’adu prayed the court to grant her custody of the children and for an order for Salisu to provide upkeep allowance, school fees, clothing and medication.
In his response, Salisu said he wants to be with his children because Sa’adu’s family are not educated and he wants his children in school.
” I am a motorcycle rider and can only afford N500 daily for feeding.I also take bread to her for breakfast occasionally, ” he said.
The plaintiff however told the court that the children have been enroled in school adding that Salisu should increase the money for feeding to N1,000 daily.
The judge, Malam Muhammad Adamu, however ordered Salisu to bring the oldest son to court on the Sept. 14.
Adamu adviced Salisu not to leave his children hungry.
He also advised Salisu to increase the feeding allowance before the court rules on the case.(NAN)
