A member of the House of Representatives, Denis Idahosa (APC-Edo), has revealed how he has been able to attract several projects to his constituency in spite of prevailing challenges.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Sunday, he attributed the feat to goodwill and God’s intervention.

The lawmaker who represents Ovia Federal Constituency said he had to create good relationships with ministers and directors of MDAs to attract the projects numbering about 73.

He said his constituency entitled to only projects worth N124 million as constituency projects annually.

He described this as grossly inadequate and could hardly take care of maximum of two or three projects.

“Let me shock you with a secret. Some of us without knowing how this place is, promised our people heaven on earth when if voted into power.

“On reaching here, we discovered that it was a different thing entirely.

‘’Like now, my constituency is entitled to only N124 million annually for constituency projects. And that can do a maximum of two to three projects in a year.

‘’Having realised this, I had to think outside of the box, so I decided to create good relationships with ministers and directors of MDAs.

‘’So based on my relationship with them and the intervention of God, I have been able to attract so many projects to my constituency.

“The truth is that when you are passionate about developing your place or constituency, the resources are there, but you have to utilise them for the good of the people, not your personal interest.

“I have seen that in the NASS. We have lots of opportunities to attract lots of development to our people, but some don’t use them for the good of the people, but for their personal interest,” he said.

Idahosa disclosed that between 2020 till date; he had constructed 27 schools from the scratch to completion.

The lawmaker who said that he completed several other major projects attributed such to the need to address infrastructure deficit in his constituency. (NAN)
