A businessman, Inyang Iwara on Monday told a Gwagwalada Upper Area Court, Abuja how his neighbour and former friend, Henry Itsedi, threatened to kill him for accusing him of dating a married woman.

The police charged Itsedi with criminal intimidation.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Iwara made the allegation while being led in evidence by the Prosecution Counsel, Abdullahi Tanko.

”I met the defendant in 2019. We became friends and started hanging out. He is usually in the company of a certain woman he claimed to be his friend.

“A woman, named  Sarah later asked me is I knew that the woman who hangs with us was a married woman with three kids and I said no.

“I confronted the defendant with the allegation but he denied it. I later discovered that the woman was actually married I told the defendant to stop coming close to me. He became angry and stopped his family from visiting me,” he said.

The witness said that the defendant sent Sarah to tell him out of the three iroko trees standing, one must be brought down.

”He threatened to kill me and put me in the casket,” he said.

Iwara told the court that the defendant had attempted to run him over once.

The Defence Counsel, Mr T.Z. Gwari, asked the witness if the defendant had ever confronted him with threats.

The witness said the defendant has insulted and threatened him.

The Judge, Malam Abdullahi Abdulkarim, adjourned the matter until May 18 for continuation of hearing. (NAN)
