AN entrepreneur, Mr Adesegun Banjoko, says Nigeria will be a better place when people sacrifice personal gain for the collective good and abandon dishonest practices that hinder national progress.

Banjoko, National President, National Association of Block Moulders of Nigeria (NABMON), said this in his Easter message to Nigerians on Monday in Lagos.

He urged Nigerians to embrace principles of Easter and work together for the country’s betterment.

“Going by the major lessons of Easter, which is sacrificial selflessness, and faith in the power of the resurrected Christ, our nation, Nigeria, requires sacrificial rebirth from us all, severally and collectively.

“It requires a spirit of repentance from all our untoward ways and means collaboratively working against the progress of our nation and deliberately choosing to work faithfully with a selfless, purposeful mind for national rebirth,” he said.

Banjoko recalled a leading Nigerian figure in the past blaming the country’s struggles on the behavior of its people.

He said that the critical remark made by the Nigerian leader in 1986 about the country’s problems were still relevant today as the issues had not been resolved.

He emphasised the need for people to improve their behaviour and attitudes for the country’s government to be effective.

Banjoko urged the people to act with more honesty, selflessness and dedication to working together for the country’s benefit.

He said that Nigerians needed to be better both as a society and as individuals. (NAN)
