Human rights lawyer urges Nigerian youths to join fight against corruption

AN Abuja-based human rights lawyer,  Mr Haroun Eze, has urged Nigerian youths to be actively involved in the fight against corruption in the country.

Eze who made the call in an interview with a correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja said that President Muhammadu Buhari was doing everything possible to ensure that the scourge was completely eradicated.

”Nigeria needs collective efforts toward eradicating corruption.

”Youths form the greatest percentage of  Nigeria’s population. We need to join forces with the federal government to ensure a corrupt-free nation.

“The youths cannot continue to be onlookers; rather, they should support the fight against corruption,” he said.

The human rights lawyer expressed dismay over the inability of the younger generation to support the fight. We must continue to demand that Nigeria must become better and be made great for the present and future generations.

”Nigeria has suffered a lot of damage due to corruption,” he said.

Eze also called for the need to educate youths on good moral values, value re-orientation to guard against corrupt practices.

“I believe we can change the narrative, irrespective of the situation we find ourselves; we must not allow social ills to dictate our direction as a nation.

“The youths must resist any temptation capable of engaging them in other forms of anti-social activities,” he added. (NAN).
