ROSEMARY Chukwuma, a 100m gold medalist at the just-concluded Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Championships, says that her major target is to run a good time to qualify for 2020 Youth Olympics in Switzerland.

Chukwuma told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on telephone that she felt good winning three gold medals at the championships, saying that “it is the season’s opener for me”.

“My major target is to run a good time that will qualify me for 2020 Youth Olympics and I believe that I can do it, I know that with God all things are possible,” she said.

NAN reports that the 2020 Youth Olympics is scheduled for Jan. 9 to Jan. 22 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Chukwuma, who also won gold in the 200m, said that she was happy winning three gold medals for her country.

“I need to win the gold medals and to make my country proud, I felt good winning three medals, it is a good development.

“I can say it is not a bad one because, I just started the season. I am okay with my performance. 2018 was a great year but I believe that this year will be greater,” she said.

The 4x100m gold medalist, who was reacting to other activities she would have loved to engage in,  said she loved dancing.

“If not for the 100m that I am involved in, I would have loved to be a Long jumper or a dancer because I love dancing a lot,” she said.

Chukwuma won a 100m gold medal at the 2018 Youth Olympics held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

She also won a gold medal at the 2018 Africa Youth Games held in Algiers. (NAN)
