REV. Fr.  Hyacinth Alia, the APC Governorship candidate in Benue, has pledged to provide better leadership that will serve the overall interests of the people, if elected in 2023.

“I will  evolve a leadership style that will connect to a clear, compelling vision of transforming the fortunes of all Benue people,” he said on Sunday at a thanksgivings Mass in Gboko Local Government Area.

The service was organised by his mother’s kinsmen to appreciate God for his recent victory at the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary.

A statement issued by his media aide, Isaac Uzaan, said that the service was held at St. Pius Catholic Church Nege, Ateku -Mbaanue-Mbatiav.

According to him, the state government has been unable to tap into the distinct and admirable natural and human resources the state is endowed with.

He added that the government had also not lived to its obligations in the payment of salaries and pension.

Alia said that the situation had exposed civil servants and pensioners to difficulties, and urged them to be hopeful and confident in the ability of the APC to produce greater leadership.

The governorship candidate also called on Benue people to vote for all APC candidates, from the President down to state assembly members.

Alia said he would work with a team of like-minds in leadership, both at the state and national levels, to ease the work of governance and open up opportunities for the people.

“We will change the narrative and make the future bright and better,” Alia added.

In a sermon, Rev. Fr. Michael Melladu cautioned against the negative effect of leprosy on humanity.

He said those afflicted often failed to function as a normal persons or live up to the expectations of the people.(NAN)
