EDOSE Ibadin failed on Wednesday to progress directly in the first round of the men’s 800 metres event of the ongoing Olympic Games in Paris.

Ibadin finished sixth after returning a time of one minute 46.56 seconds in heat 2 of the event at the Stade de France.

He will now battle for another chance in the repechage round on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Team Nigeria’s Ese Ukpeseraye has also dropped out of contention in the cycling track event of the Games.

Ukpeseraye first finished sixth and last in heat 1 of the women’s keirin first round, a race distance of six laps, at the National Velodrome.

This however enabled her into the repechage round, as only the top two in the heat advanced to the quarter-finals.

But she still went on to lose out, as she finished fourth in hear 4 of the repechage, thereby losing out in the second opportunity to get to the quarter-finals.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that competition in the event will continue on Thursday with the quarter-finals, and the semi-finals and final later.(NAN)

7th August, 2024.
