THE Jos branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAN) has organised a road walk to commemorate the 2022 International Accounting Day in Jos.
Mrs Helen Temtsen, the Charperson of the Jos and District Society of ICAN, said that every November 10 has been set aside to celebrate all accountants in the world.
Temtsen explained that the road walk would afford ICAN members the opportunity to exercise as their busy schedules often denies them the opportunity to regularly exercise.
“We are here today to celebrate the over three million accountants spread in every sectors contributing to national and global economy growth and development.
“ICAN is delighted that its more than 55,000 chattered accountants are also contributing and adding value to the growth trajectory of Nigeria.
“We in the Jos and District Society decided to join our counterparts across the globe to celebrate ourselves and other accountants who are working for the growth and progress of our economy.
”You know that our work is sedentary in nature; we sit in one place for long doing our work and so this walk has offered us opportunity to exercise our bodies,” she said
The chairperson advised organisations to regularly celebrate their accountants, insisting that they play critical roles toward the growth and development of the organisation.
Temtsen, however, advised accountants to be professional and observe the ethics of the profession in the discharge of their duties.(NAN)
