BOSEDE Ikhanoba, the Chairman, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Abuja chapter has urged accountants to embrace modern accounting technology to meet the expectations of their clients.

She made the call during her investiture as the 10th chairman of the district and inauguration of new executive members on Tuesday night in Abuja.

Ikhanoba said that under her leadership, the district would ensure that members braced up to relevant digital speed and competences required in the digital age.

“We all know that we currently leave in a world where information technology is constantly evolving, therefore, members must improve and market their skills and services based on client’s expectations.

“Accountants should embrace technology, because that is the in-thing now and they should be able to meet the expectations of their clients,” she said.

She, however, assured members that the chapter would organise more trainings to keep its members abreast on modern accounting technology.

The new chairman also said that the chapter would continue to collaborate with consultants to deliver qualitative services for members of the institute and the general public.

Ikhanoba further assured that under her leadership, the district would support the institute’s initiatives and create awareness through visits to tertiary institutions.

She added that the district would also establish a firm relationship with the Abuja Chambers of Commerce and the National Assembly.

The new chairman paid special tribute to members who had inspired, encouraged, supported and believed in her over the years, saying that they were the reason she made it to the top.

“I appreciate every member of Abuja district of ICAN for the honour and for allowing me to hold this position in trust.

“I pledge to justify the confidence you have reposed in me by upholding the integrity and ethical standards of the institute,” she said.

She prayed that God would give her the wisdom to shoulder her new responsibilities as the institute’s Abuja chairman.

Ikhanoba congratulated members of the executive committee who were elected along side with her, and expressed confidence that they would work as a team to overcome all challenges.

“As a team, we will continue to work together to overcome all odds and build a good foundation of service for the benefit of the district and the institute in general.’’

While appreciating Mr Oluwafuminiyin Akande, her predecessor, she said she would need his support and encouragement to succeed in her assignment.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ikhanoba is currently the Director of Administration at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), and had also served the Chattered Institute of Taxation.

Also speaking, Malam Mohammed Zakari, Chairman of the occasion noted that Ikhanoba had served ICAN in various capacities and had proved to be a very dependable ally.
