Idris bags SWS award for uplifting standard of women

GOV. Nasir Idris of Kebbi, has received an award from ‘Standup For Women Society (SWS)’ for his unrelenting contributions in uplifting the living standard of women in the state.

A statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday by Malam Yahaya Sarki, the Special Adviser to Idris on Media and Publicity, said the governor was honored with the prestigious women award by the national body at its second national conference.

It said that the conference took place in Abuja on Monday in Abuja with the theme,’ Women:  Bridge Builders in Good Governance and Societal Balance’.

According to the Sarki, the state Chairperson of the organisation,  Hajiya Binta Abdulhamid, the Chief Press Secretary  to the Wife of the governor, Hajiya Nafisa Idris, received the award on behalf of  the governor.

Sarki said: “The society recognizes the leading role of the governor in supporting women development, humility, open mindedness, open door policy, mentoring and accommodating posture.

“Two other illustrious sons of Kebbi , Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, the Secretary to the State Government and Alhaji Garba Umar-Dutsin-Mare, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, also received similar awards.

“The group said that they were given the awards for their individual contributiona to the development of women in the state,”  Sarki added. (NAN).
