LEADERS of Igbo people in Adamawa, “Igwe’’ Godwin Omenaka, Eze Igbo III, on Wednesday in Yola urged his people to continue to live peacefully with their host communities.

Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), he noted that peace was the bedrock of progress and unity.

He lauded Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri on his administration’s giant strides in security and infrastructure and in carrying non-indigenes along in government activities which, he said had given the non-indigenes a sense of belonging.

“This posture will further spur and motivate non-indigenes to contribute more to the development of the state because we are also bona fide citizens of the state,’’ he said.

The leader said the Igbo, as a community, is always ready and willing to partake in events organised to improve the lives and welfare of the common man.

Omenaka called on his members to ensure to vote for deserving candidates at the 2023 general elections without sentiments or primordial considerations.

The Igbo community in Adamawa celebrated the 2022 New Yam festival in Yola recently at a ceremony that attracted hundreds of well-wishers from the state and beyond. (NAN)
