IGP Suspends Peacekeeping Selection Exercise over Death of Officers

AS result of the death of three police officers during the peacekeeping fitness selection exercise on Thursday, May 19, the police high command has decided to suspend the exercise forthwith and put the selection process on hold till further notice.

Over 5,000 officers and men of the force were selected for the exercise taken place at the Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters, Abuja, for screening to select officers for peacekeeping operations before the sad development.

The report stated that a Deputy Superintendent of Police and a Corporal were said to have collapsed and died before medical help could reach them during the physical fitness exercise while several other police officers were said to have been injured due to several other health challenges. The names of the deceased officers could not be ascertained as at press time.
