Ikorodu City FC loses second consecutive home match

NASARAWA United FC on Saturday defeated Ikorodu United 2-1 a Nigeria Premier Football League(NPFL)game played in Lagos
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Match Day 4 defeat was the second successive home loss recorded by the debutant in the current league season.
Defending champions ,Rangers International FC had on Wednesday pipped Ikorodu FC before their home fans by a lone goal.
Playing the second home match against another elite league returnee, Ikorodu City FC started brightly ,but they were outsmarted by the Solid Miners ,who opened the goal account through their captain Anas Yusuf’s brilliance in the 44th minute of play.
At the closing minutes of the first half, Ikorodu City FC levelled up in the third minutes of the extra time (48th minute) through striker Thankgod Chilaka’s nod from a well -connected pass from their captain, Waliu Ojetoye.
The Oga Boys returned to the pitch in the second half with high pressing game, but could not break the wall of Nasarawa United, until the visitors got the winning goal.
Kabiru Balogun scored a b free kick in the 66th minute to put his side on the lead as the Bright Ozebagbe-tutored side watched helplessly.
The Coach of Nasarawa United, Kabiru Dogo, told NAN after the match that the game was a deserving win after the team’s efforts.
“We seriously needed this win and God knows how important it was for the team.
“We were almost down before the match, but I had to tell the young team to take it easy because they are just coming from the lower league.
“The boys today took to the instructions and played well and I know this win will be a sort of morale booster for the team.
“The government of Nasarawa State also deserves praise for motivating the team,” he said. (NAN)
