Ikorodu LG donates 2 patrol vehicles to police

THE Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government in Lagos State, Mr Wasiu Adesina, says the council has provided security agencies with two utility vehicles to boost capacity to curtail criminality in the area.
Presenting the vehicles at the council secretariat in Ikorodu, Adesina said his administration was committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property of all residents in Ikorodu.
“Considering the increasing rate of insecurity in various communities, the council can not afford to fold its arms and do nothing under this current circumstances.
“The state and federal governments are deploying the use of CCTV to monitor our communities, the local government must also complement their efforts.
“We cannot leave their needs to the federal and state government, that is why we are donating two patrol vehicles to our police station in Sagamu and Igbogbo Divisions,” he said.
According to the chairman, one of the ways to assist the police is to provide them with the necessary information that may aid them in tracking suspects.
He urged residents not to wait until they were attacked before reporting signs of insecurity within the neighborhood, adding that kidnappers and robbers were not ghosts.
He also called on parents to advise and train their wards with good morals so as not to join bad gangs and engage in vices that would put them into trouble.
The chairman said that the provision of vehicles may not be the final solution to the insecurity bedeviling the society but a work in progress.
“As a government, we realize that our security agencies lacked necessary means of mobility, without means of movement, it may be difficult to carry out surveillance,” he said.
The chairman appealed to security personnel to put the vehicles into maximum use adding that they are meant to be for security patrol and not for carrying passengers or escorts.
“Our plan is to buy more immediately the revenue of the council increases, ” he said.
He appealed to police officers’ wives to always pay their tolls and rate.
The Divisional Police Officer(DPO) Isagamu road, CSP Adekunle Omisakin, who spoke on behalf of the police, commended the chairman for presenting the vehicles and promised that it would be used judiciously.
