SEN. Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe (PDP-Cross River) says he will deploy every legal means to defend his hard earned reputation and victory at the polls.

He said this on Tuesday in Abuja while briefing newsmen on the aftermath of the Feb. 25 Presidential and National Assembly Elections in Cross River.

Jarigbe said that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state were out to tarnish his image.

He said that the APC in the state alleged that he was the one that brought in thugs to disrupt the recently held national assembly election in his zone.

The lawmaker said: “After the defeat of the APC at the polls, they have gone on overdrive in expressing their pain, disappointment and frustration of their failure to steal the elections.

“They have been expressing their frustration at losing the election, it is pertinent to state that their attempt to rig the last election is not a baseless accusation.

He further said that in spite of the defeat suffered by APC in the zone, members of the party were still out to tarnish his image and reputation.

“I will still go to court on grounds of defamation of character. A petition has been written by the State Chairman of my party, the PDP,” he said.

The senator called on the Police in the state to be professional in their conduct and put in motion machineries to get to the root of the matter.

“I hereby call on the Inspector-General of Police to immediately use his good office to put a stop to this show of shame going on in the state.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared my party, the PDP and my humble self, winner of the Cross River North Senatorial District Elections held on Feb. 25.

“We emerged victorious in that election with 76,145 votes; while the candidate of the APC, the sitting Governor of Cross River, Ben Ayade, came second with 56,595 votes.

“A clear difference of 19,550 votes. Our people made it abundantly clear that I was their choice.”(NAN)
