THE chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Imo State, Daniel Nwafor, on Sunday said the party would not hesitate to take legal action against the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof Francis Ezeonu, for not recognising him as the chairman despite a court order.

Nwafor said the REC had been acting contrary to an existing court order which legally recognised him as the party chairman in the state.

He made the allegation in an interview with journalists.

He said APC under his leadership might be compelled to drag Ezeonu to court if he does not desist from undermining his position and by extension, the court directive.

The REC had allowed party agent sent by a faction of APC to stand in for the party along Nwafor’s agent during the distribution of sensitive materials on Friday.

Nwafor said the REC’s action was a disobedience to the court order.

He insisted that APC in the state had no reason presenting two party agents to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

He said, “I am the duly elected APC chairman in Imo State. The INEC REC should respect that.” – Punch
