THE Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Imo State Council, has publicly disassociated itself from Chinonso Uba also known as Nonso Nkwa, stating that he is not a trained journalist and therefore not a member of the organization.

This decision comes after Nonso Nkwa’s activities were deemed inciting and promoting insecurity in Imo State.

In a statement, the NUJ specifically highlighted the recent attack on the NOUN and JAMB office at Ehime Mbano LGA, which they found unacceptable to be linked to someone claiming to be a journalist and NUJ member.

The organization condemned Nonso Nkwa’s actions, emphasizing that he should be held responsible for his inciting behavior against the Imo Government, security agencies and citizens.

The Imo NUJ warned that any individuals undermining the organization’s integrity or masquerading as registered journalists would face legal prosecution. This notice serves as a public disclaimer, clarifying the NUJ’s stance on Nonso Nkwa’s activities.

Interestingly, there are reports that Nonso Nkwa was arrested by the police, with some sources claiming he was detained for cyberstalking, character defamation, and spreading misinformation.

The NUJ Imo State Council has called for his immediate release or trial, citing concerns about his detention exceeding the 48-hour limit without charges.

Furthermore the phony documents under the name of NUJ Imo State Chapter had no signatories and wrong names of the NUJ executives.
