The Special Assistant to Governor Ayodele Fayose on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, has chided the Ekiti State Governor-elect, Kayode Fayemi, over the request for security beef up ahead of his inauguration on October 16.

Olayinka, in a statement, described Fayemi’s request to the Federal Government as an indication that the governor-elect was still be being hounded by the fraud he allegedly perpetrated in the July 14 election, in which he was declared winner.

He said if Fayemi had truly won the election he would not have been afraid to walk freely in the state without being surrounded by armed security men.

He said it was funny that the governor-elect, who was coming to take over power in Ekiti State, would require thousands of armed security men for his inauguration.

Olayinka said, “It was this same fear of the unknown that made Fayemi to deploy police helicopters for aerial surveillance when he came to Ado Ekiti to receive his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission.

“What is he afraid of? Shouldn’t the same people that purportedly voted for him be happy and eager to usher him into office?” – Punch
