Inauguration: Plateau Speaker salutes Lalong, Deputy

JOSHUA Madaki, the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly has congratulated Gov. Simon Lalong and his Deputy, Prof. Sonni Tyoden, on their inauguration as Governor and Deputy Governor of the state for second term.
Madaki’s congratulatory message was contained in a statement issued by his Director of Press, Mr Philip Atsen, on Wednesday in Jos.
The speaker noted that the governor’s development strides in his first tenure warranted his re-election.
He commended the governor for the peace being enjoyed in the state, noting that his various peace initiatives had stemmed the tide of insecurity in the state.
Madaki described Lalong as a lover of peace and urged him to do more in ensuring that total peace returns to all parts of the state in his second tenure.
“Let me congratulate the people’s governor and his deputy as they both take the oath office to steer the affairs of our dear state for another four years.
“No doubt the governor has done well in various areas but most importantly is the peace we now enjoy in the state; it is indeed commendable,” he said.
The speaker also commended the governor for prompt payment of salaries of workers and pension to retirees, noting that it had improved the personal income of the individuals and that of the state in general.
“Prompt payment of salaries and pension has in great measures improved our economy as a state because more money now exchange hands,’’ he said.
He called on the governor to ensure a more cordial and sustained relationship with labour unions in his second term and should maintain at status quo in the payment of workers’ remunerations.
Madaki urged the citizens of the state to support and cooperate with Lalong and his team in order to succeed in the second term. (NAN)
