GOV. Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra has called for collective action to salvage Nigeria from the present socio-economic and other challenges currently plaguing it.
Soludo made the call at an Interdenominational Church Service to commemorate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary, held on Sunday at the Cathedral Church of St. Faith, Awka.
He urged Nigerians to continue to pray for their leaders and the country.
The Interdenominational Church Service is part of the programmes lined up to commemorate the 64th Independence of Nigeria .
The governor emphasised that each individual’s actions, decisions, and contributions played a role in shaping the country’s future, whether positively or negatively.
According to him, the progress or decline of Nigeria is the collective responsibility of all Nigerians.
“We are here to celebrate Nigeria and thank God in commemoration of Nigeria’s 64th anniversary as an independent sovereign nation.
“My message is that it will take all of us to save Nigeria, government alone cannot do it.
“I urge our religious leaders to use the power of the pulpit to mobilise the people to action because each one of us has a responsibility to do something to fix this country,” he said.
Soludo said his administration would continue to do its best to improve the lives of the people in Anambra.
Earlier in a sermon, Most Rev. Alexander Ibezim, Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province and Bishop of Awka Diocese, urged Nigerians to adopt a positive mindset toward the country by speaking positively and have hope for Nigeria’s future.
“Let us start blessing our country and leaders like the Americans who always say, ‘God bless America’.
“By blessing the country, we inspire constructive actions and words that will foster unity and optimism to help address challenges and promote growth in our nation,” he said. (NAN)
