THE Chairman of the independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has urged the newly sworn-in REC to strictly adhere to the oath of office.

According to the statement signed by INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of Information and Voter Registration Committee, Sam Olumekun, the Commission held its weekly meeting, which was preceded by the swearing in of Etekamba Udo Umoren, as Resident Electoral Commissioner, deployed to Delta State.

It explained that Umoren’s deployment followed the expiration of the last office holder on Monday, January 29, 2024.

Umoren, a native of Akwa Ibom State, holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of Benin and had served in various capacities in the Akwa Ibom Civil Service, rising to the position of Permanent Secretary.
