Residents of Idemili South Local Government Areasare expected to come out en masse to claim their Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs, when distribution begins, an official says.

Friday Ekhaguere, the electoral officer, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Idemili South LGA, made the call during community stakeholders’ meeting.

The meeting was organised by the National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, in collaboration with the National Orientation Agency, NOA, at the LGA headquarters, Ojoto.

According to him all those who registered but have yet to collect their PVCs, would be required to come and claim them.

Ekhaguere, while announcing the distribution of the PVCs, lamented that there were not less than 8,000 unclaimed PVCs lying at the INEC office from the 2011 registration to March this year.

“Not less than 8,000 PVCs are still in our office yet to be collected. Even those of 2011 PVCs are still here.

“By the time INEC head Headquarters supply those of April to August 2018 it will be too much,’’ Ekhaguere added.

He urged community leaders to plead with their members who registered for their PVCs to come and collect them, so that they would be eligible to cast their votes during the 2019 General Elections.

The officer said the distribution exercise which would last for two weeks would take place at various INEC collation centres in each of the seven towns in Idemili South LGA.

He pleaded with community leaders to announce the dates scheduled for each community for people to assemble at the centres for the exercise.

“We have scheduled two days for each of the communities,’’ Ekhaguere said.
