The Nigerian Army says innovative policies have improved the quality of teaching and learning in all its Command Secondary Schools nationwide.
The Corps Commander, Education, Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Bello Tsoho, said this on Saturday at the West African Social Activities (WASA) 2024, held at the Command Children School Barracks Sports ground, Yaba, Lagos.
According to him, WASA is held annually to celebrate the rich African heritage and the cherished tradition of the Nigerian Army.
“It equally provides representation, strengthens bonds and fosters comaradarei among personnel and their families,” Tsoho said.
The commander listed some of the innovative policies to include the implementation of 40 students per class, harmonisation of scheme of work and integration of curricular activities.
He noted that these policies helped to promote the quality of education in the corps.
“I am happy to state that this effort led to the emergence of one of our schools being the best overall public secondary schools in Nigeria.
“Additionally, our school produced the best male candidate in 2024,” he said.
Tsoho appreciated the Chief Of Army Staff (COAS) for his support and commitment to the development of the education corps.
According to him, the COAS continued efforts has significantly contributed to the transformation and greater success of the corps.
“And this is propelling the corps towards excellence in all endeavours.
“The ongoing infrastructure intervention in six pioneer command day schools as well as the Nigerian Military Schools, Zaria are a testament of the COAS’s dedication.
“This will help improve the comfort, learning experiences and overall appeal of the schools.
“These remarkable upgrades are indeed laying the foundation for future growth and development,” the commander said.
Tsoho also added that in 2024, the corps successfully hosted its first ever divisional conference as well as the maiden research, development, innovation and exhibition held in Ilorin, Kwara.
“Also in the year under review, the corps pulled out 16 retired generals in grand style appreciating their contribution to the corps, the army and the nation in general.
“This accomplishment would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of the personnel of the corps,” the commander said.
He acknowledged the vital support and understanding of their families as well as friends whose contributions played a key role in ensuring that the corps maintained its distinguished reputation.
Tsoho said that this would be his last major event for the corps, adding that he would be handing over leadership of the command of the corps soon.
“I am optimistic that the year 2025 will hold even greater things for the Nigerian Army Education Corps,” he said. (NAN)
