AN Ilorin based legal practitioner, Mr Tajudeen Ibrahim, has called for adequate border check to prevent illegal immigrants from entering the country.
Ibrahim made the called in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Friday.
He noted that porous border exposes the country to influx of foreigners.
According to him, border leakages is causing security tension in the country as different kind of people entered unchecked from neighbouring countries to constitute threat to Nigeria’s security.
“The Federal Government must act fast to secure the border perfectly, as Nigeria is becoming too exposed via their porous border.
“If we want to really tackle insecurity, I will advise we start from securing our borders. Different people are coming in from different countries to reside in Nigeria.
“We are allowing illegal foreigners into the country. That is why we continue to witness kidnapping, banditry and all sort of terrorist acts.
“Government must deploy enough security men to secure the border. If possible, let the government make use of technology to secure the entry points into the country,” he said.
The lawyer, however, advised government to prioritise border security for safety of the citizens.
Ibrahim added that any country with porous border risk security failure and endanger the lives of its citizens.
