International Youth Day: Nigerian youths custodians of nation’s future – Ondo lawmaker

PRINCE Okunjimi Odimayo, member representing Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, has described as indispensable the role of Nigerian youths in shaping the country’s future.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Okitipupa on Tuesday, Odimayo also extended his greetings to Nigerian youths to commemorate the International Youth Day observed on Jan.7.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the theme for 2025 International Youth Day is “Youth Empowerment for a Sustainable Future.”

The statement by his media aide, Mr Victor Adedeji, quoted the lawmaker and Chairman, House Committee on Population, as commending the resilience and creativity of Nigerian youths.

He urged the Federal Government and states to formulate policies that would create more opportunities for skill acquisition, entrepreneurship, and leadership development of youths in Nigeria.

“Our youths are the architects of a brighter future, and it is our responsibility to provide the enabling environment for them to thrive.

“They are the bedrock of our nation’s progress and by investing in their development, we are investing in a brighter, more prosperous Nigeria,” Odimayo said.

The lawmaker reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, citing his numerous initiatives, including skill acquisition programmes and employment opportunities, designed to unlock the vast potential of young people in his constituency.

He also lauded the sturdiness and determination of Nigerian youths admist the challenges in the country, and encouraged them to remain steadfast in their pursuit of excellence.

“In alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, I call on youths to support the government’s transformative policies aimed at creating opportunities and fostering inclusive growth,” he added.

Odimayo, however, urged young Nigerians to harness their talents, embrace innovation, participate in governance, social reforms, and community-building efforts. (NAN)
