THE Civil Liberties Organization, CLO, Anambra State Branch has made a passionate appeal to Nigerian youths to take their destiny in their hands as the future belongs to them and they should therefore guide, guard and protect their future by being responsible, respectful and patriotic citizens.

They should see themselves as not only future leaders, but current leaders as they constitute the majority, they will effectively and efficiently use it to effect positive change and enthrone good, compassionate, patriotic and God-fearing servant leaders.

The group said in their 2023 World Youth Day goodwill message signed by Vincent Ezekwueme Chairman and Chidi Mbah Secretary respectively that Nigerian youths should shun all vices, thuggery, cultism, armed robbery, restiveness, kidnapping, criminalities, examination malpractices and lawlessness.

“Remember you are very important to your parents, family, community, state and nation so make yourself veritable vessel to contribute towards nation building and development. It is of prime importance for our youths to be patriotic, hardworking, versatile, educated, selfless and contented.

“Government should provide conducive atmosphere for our youths to excel and actualize their God ordained destinies and potential for them,” the statement said.

It urged formulators of the educational system to introduce education of the heart, head and hand and make mandatory and compulsory that every youth and student must learn one skill before graduation.

“We equally commend Nigerian youths for their unprecedented active participation during last general elections. They should sustain and improve on such enthusiasm for us to actualize Nigeria of our dreams, hopes and aspirations.

“The greatest World Youths Day gifts they must importantly expect from government is for government to improve security, create job and reverse upward review of school fees,” the CLO added.
