AN Intersociety group, a non governmental organisation, NGO, based in Eastern Nigeria, has called on apostles and disciples of justice and other Nigerians to keep up the fight and the candle of courage and nobility burning ceaselessly in 2022. This call was made by Emeka Umeagbalasi,  chairman of the group, in Onitsha, Eastern Nigeria, on  Wednesday, January 26.

While thanking her members for the support in the preceding years, the group leader reminded them of more to be done to ensure that Nigeria and the globe is a place where human rights, rule of law and societal decency and orderliness are the common feature and practice at all times.

Umeagbalasi has also established that the commitment of the group with that of her members since 2008 has freed hundreds, uncovered the death of thousands, identified victims and exposed their perpetrators for justice. He also attached the achievements of the group to the opinion of the Lombroso and the Sutherland Schools of Criminology, which he quoted saying, “when a crime or conduct atrocity is perpetrated un-exposed, un-investigated and un-documented, no crime or conduct atrocity is perpetrated and no perpetrator has been identified and liable for accountability”.

Still encouraging the members, the group chair stressed the fact that all have undeniably been touched directly or not by the injustice ravaging the world.

“All the apostles and disciples of justice in Nigeria including you and alongside the slain, injured, tortured, abducted, disappeared and property victims; are all victims of the state crimes and abuse of power”, Umeagbalasi said.

Meanwhile the group which is known for its resilience and unalloyed contribution to the freedom, emancipation of the common, vulnerable masses stresses the need for collective efforts to end crime, injustice. Emeka Umeagbalasi admitted that all members are needed to continue the good work.

“We must keep fighting to free people who are unlawfully detained, those wrongfully jailed and people who are unjustly imprisoned. We must join hands in putting to an end all forms of torture, arbitrary arrests and detention without trials, atrocious abductions and involuntary disappearances, unlawful killings, unlawful executions and extra-legal, extra judicial killings. We must join hands to end state security actors’ burning of civilian homes and sacred places of worship and livelihoods as well as other forms of property violence or crimes against property”, Umeagbalasi said.
