THE United Nations Children and Education Fund (UNICEF) has solicited a robust media support in raising the quality of lives of Nigerian children and other citizens.
The UNICEF Nigeria Representative, Ms Christian Munduate, made the appeal on
Tuesday in Gusau during a working visit.
Munduate explained that the organisation had been complementing Nigerian governments in the health, education and nutrition sectors.
She urged the media to document and report the interventions constructively to better the lives of Nigerians.
According to her, you need to effectively monitor and ensure accountability in the implementation of our programmes.
The UNICEF country representative identified low level of awareness, poverty and weak political will as some factors affecting quality lives of Nigerians.
She, therefore, enjoined the media to raise public awareness on responsibility, accountability, political commitment and funding to improve the quality of living standards.
Munduate’s request was supported by the Sokoto UNICEF Chief of Field Office, Mr Michael Juma, among other officials. (NAN)
