ENYIMBA International FC, on Saturday in Aba defeated visiting FC Kallon of Sierra Leone 2-1 in an international friendly match.

Chibueze Izogu put the People’s Elephant ahead in the 30th minute of play, while Kallon equalised through Nathaniel Jalloh in the 42nd minute.

Enyimba raised their game and showed class when their new signee from Rangers FC of Enugu, Chukwudi Nwodu, came at the resumption of the second half.

A fantastic ball distribution between Nwodu and Divine Ukadike found Ekwutoziam Eze in a vantage position to score the winner in the 90th minute at Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.

In his post-match interview, the visiting FC Kallon’s Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Kallon, described the match as interesting.

He also said that his young players needed such high-profile matches to grow.

He said the friendly match lived up to its expectations to toughen his players when they face strong and experienced teams like Enyimba.

Kallon, Sierra Leonian ex-International, is the owner, and coach of FC Kallon.

He said his club had so far played four friendlies with the players getting the needed exposure and confidence on the ball with each match.

”We gave our best in the matches we played so far in their tour, and I know when we go back home, the outcome of these matches will be a lesson to us.

”I believe that the things we are picking from these friendlies will help us to confront our opponents in the Sierra Leonian league,” Kallon said.

Similarly, Coach Kayode Olanrewaju of Enyimba said the match was not a bad game though his players struggled in the first 45 minutes.

”For us, it is a pre-season, and we are making progress because we played without many of our first-team players and still got a win over our visitors.

”Seven of our regular players did not play the friendly; it was an opportunity to see everybody play and see what he can offer the team.

”This is a pre-season, and we need to get the players ready for the challenges ahead.

”So it is better we discover the mistakes now and correct them for the matches ahead,” Olanrewaju said. (NAN)
